Do you need a little extra something to get you going in the morning and to brighten your day? We think our new Artful Quilter Breakfast Club will give you the perfect start. Every other month we will offer a very special project along with a breakfast treat and coffee or tea. You may choose a quilter’s “Breakfast” that uses our precut “Fabric Cinnamon Rolls” or go out to our ‘Fabric Buffet’ and select the ingredients to create your own breakfast strips. Then we will reconvene in the classroom to prepare your included quilt recipe (pattern). Each “AQ Cinnamon Roll” consists of 2½” pre-cut strips from a gorgeous collection of fabrics. The patterns are designed for your dining (quilting) pleasure. Depending upon the complexity,  you will be working on a lap or a full/queen size quilt. As an added bonus, you’ll get instructions and yardage requirements for placemats, table runner, as well as a king size version. Each quilt is rated for ease of construction: 1-3 coffee cups for Easy, Intermediate, or Advanced. Just bring in your sewing tools and sewing machine, and we will provide the rest. All Breakfast Club classes will start at 9:30 am. Purchase of  ‘AQ Cinnamon Rolls’ or ‘AQ Fabric Buffet’ is required. Prices for classes and fabric will vary depending on the featured project. You can register for whichever classes fit your schedule but we think you will want to do them all! Space is limited. Register Early!

 The first three projects in our Breakfast Club Series are “1 coffee cup” projects and perfect for all levels:

 ♥☼Belgian Waffles: This is a delightful quilt to put together with a unique new strip piecing technique. The strip-panel squares add visual interest to the center of each block and pieced borders add to the fun.

 ♥☼Eggs Benedict: This sophisticated design makes a perfect quilt for the teenager in your life. Use bright and bold fabrics or retro fabrics for a fun and funky look, or tone it down with a more conservative palette

 ♥☼Mexican Fiesta Eggs: This is one of the easiest and quickest quilts ever. Spice it up using lots of assorted bright colors for the strip sets. Go all scrappy or graduate your colors. Either way, get ready for a fun fiesta of your own when it’s finished!

Art Quilt Exploration, Workshops and Study Groups

♥♥AQ Art Quilt Exploration© (Formerly AQ Art Quilt Theory©): Annabel really enjoys using collage and mixed media to create one of a kind projects and would love to share some of the techniques she has explored.  ♥♥♥New Spring Session! New Project! AQ Pieced Art Quilt© Series: It’s quite simple, really! If you have ever sewn garments, you can very easily master creative art quilt piecing. A full size pattern will be provided for this class. Incorporate traditional straight and curved piecing methods and take your quiltmaking to a higher level. I’ll share my ‘no-pins’ curved piecing method and help you build the skills and techniques to conquer your fears of thinking outside the box. Learn to use registration marking to get a perfect match. Let your creative journey begin!  2 Sessions.

 ♥♥ New for 2009! 4-Day AQ Art Quilt Workshop: “Anatomy of an Art Quilt©” I know this is a long way off, but with all the requests, I thought I’d better get these on the schedule now. Join me as you master my ‘layered’ art quilt method. This technique has novice art quilters turning out incredible work in a matter of days! Avoid those complex techniques that are daunting and yield poor results. This is also open to previous students who have requested the opportunity to study with me further. Expand your horizons, gain confidence, and explore your muse with this method!

 ♥♥ New for 2009! Dyeing and Painting Workshop: I keep getting requests to offer another of my fabric dyeing and painting workshops, so I’m putting one together for you in late Spring. We will do a full 15 stage gradation with fiber reactive dyes and also some painting and screening. Kit required.

2008-2009 AQ Sunday Brunch© Series

 The AQ Brunch Series is one of our most popular groups. You must be enrolled in the Brunch Bunch to participate and enroll in these classes. All brunch classes are on a ‘first come, first served, basis. These classes usually fill with a wait list. If you don’t get in the first offering, you are given priority on the next. Brunch Registration fee is $25

 We have rescheduled the final class from last session on October 19. Our fun Sunday Brunch series is geared to the intermediate to advanced quilter and includes a yummy, light continental brunch. The projects we choose are inspiring and include some of our original designs..

 ♥♥Shoji-A New Direction©: This unique and artsy selection is another exclusive design with an Asian flair. Try it with Asian prints or give it a contemporary twist with any of our Westminster collection of fabrics.

♥♥Jewels in the Window©: Recently,  a delightful customer came in with a round robin quilt who was at a loss for her turn on a beautiful hand appliqué medallion quilt. Intuitively, and scrambling for inspiration, I created a little sample block for her using a mock cathedral window technique. I decided to take it further and create this unique new design. I think you’ll love it!

Cindy has added a new NY Beauty BOM in to accommodate our wait lists. Register quickly to get in these groups as there are only a few spaces available! The evening group is scheduled to begin on DEC 5 at 7:00-9:30 pm. The daytime session begins on DEC 4 at 10-12:30 or 1-3:30. (We added the morning session.) The blocks are from Karen Stone’s “Cinco De Mayo” quilt and constructing it one block at a time makes this rather intimidating project quite manageable. Each month you will work on construction and color placement for a new block.
